Softube just expanded their synth line, this time modeling the iconic Minimoog (although they can’t use the name for obvious reasons). The Model 72 Synthesizer System is, according to the company, component modeled down to the smallest details from a 1972 hardware unit in pristine condition with all the quirks and non-linearities intact, hence the name Model 72.
Authenticity aside, we’re glad to see Softube added helpful contemporary features, like doubling and stereo spread, and multiple versions for different applications within the company’s ecosystem. You can use Model 72 as a normal instrument plugin, as FX, as well as with Softube Modular (split in 7 different modules) and Amp Room (as an envelope filter effect).

There’s no shortage of Minimoog software counterparts (including Moog’s own reproduction for iOS, Minimoog Model D), but this Softube release looks like serious business. We’ll check it out and report back soon…
