Softube Add MI Clouds To Their Modular
|
Mutable Instruments Clouds doesn’t really need an introduction. It has been one of the most popular Eurorack modules of the past few years, wildly exceeding the developer’s expectations.
Mutable Instruments discontinued Clouds at the end of 2017. Its developer, Oliver Gillet, had already expressed his frustration towards Clouds (and multi-function modules) on several occasions.
If you’re one of the few electronic musicians not familiar with Clouds, it is essentially a texture module that allows the user to divide incoming signals into audio droplets between 16ms and 1 second long, and offers plenty of creative controls to manipulate its audio source.
Now Clouds is available for Softube’s Modular (see our Softube Modular review), officially licensed by Mutable Instruments.
If you’re already a Modular user, Clouds is basically a no-brainer. The intro price is $29 (it’ll be $39 once the intro sale is over). There’s also a 20 day demo version available.
It’s worth mentioning that you can also experience Cloud’s granular adventures for free, using VCV Rack. You will find a Cloud-inspired module among the Audible Instruments ones, based on Mutable Instruments Eurorack modules.
