Arturia: Big Firmware Update for Beatstep Pro + Sound Constellation Promotion

The Arturia Beatstep Pro is a modern classic among producers (see our original Beatstep Pro review) and it keeps getting better. The French company just announced a big firmware that adds new features, bugfixes and more.

Polyrhythm and arpeggios

Splice Rent-to-Own

The Beatstep Pro can do much more now, thanks to the new polyrhythm and arpeggio-friendly options.

Polyrhythm feature for the drum sequencer of the BeatStep Pro now allows you to define different sequence lengths for each of its 16 tracks. To create arpeggios, holding the BeatStep Pro touch strip and pushing a pad will repeat the related sound at different resolutions.

Pattern Chaining Got Easier

Arturia rewrote the Beatstep Pro’s chaining feature, so that you can save and recall in a flash specific configurations of your patterns and even pattern chains (or scenes).

Volcas and Beatstep Pro Are New Best Friends

The firmware offers a new clock format to ensure a perfect synchronization of the BeatStep Pro with the Volca built in sequencers.
Users will also be able to customize the MIDI channel for each track of the Drum sequencer independently from the others. This will allow them to make the most of the Volca Sample but also to build complex setups where the BeatStep Pro Drum sequencer will control several instruments at a time.

And more…

Splice Sounds

These were only the most relevant new features, but the 2.0 firmware includes other improvements (including CV velocity, modular synth users will be pleased!).
