Expressive E Introduces Noisy 2 – The Next-Gen MPE Synth

Fab, May 8, 2024May 8, 2024

Expressive E, the pioneering French electronic instrument manufacturer, has unveiled Noisy 2, their latest and most advanced MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) synthesizer. Building upon the success of their acclaimed Osmose synth, Noisy 2 takes expressive sound design to new heights with its cutting-edge MPE integration and powerful sound engine.

Unlocking New Expressive Possibilities with MPE

At the core of Noisy 2 lies its innovative MPE mode, which goes far beyond traditional MPE implementation. The synth introduces “Trig modes,” a novel way to trigger envelopes by accelerating gestures downwards (push), upwards (lift), or alternating up and down (shake) within the key’s travel. This groundbreaking feature unlocks a whole new realm of expressive playing possibilities for MPE users.

Intuitive and Expressive Sound Design

Noisy 2 has been meticulously designed to make the expressive sound design experience both intuitive and enjoyable. Its workflow allows musicians and sound designers to effortlessly choose how they interact with the sonic dimensions of any preset. With a few clicks on the expression blocks, users can find the perfect balance between pressure, aftertouch, and envelope generators, refining their personal expressive playing experience.

Visualizing Expressiveness

Expressive E has ensured that Noisy 2’s interface is not only easy to read but also perfectly synchronized with the sound. The GUI has been revamped with a color-coded layout, and an envelope and continuous control visualizer has been integrated, allowing musicians to clearly see how MPE shapes and modulates sound in real-time.

Watch and hear Noisy 2 in action in the video below:

A Characterful Engine Upgrade

Noisy 2’s sound engine revolves around noise generators and acoustic resonators, creating previously unheard, outstanding, and expressive sounds. The synth expands its rich sound palette with new acoustic and analog colors, including four new acoustic resonators, a new Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) analog resonator, four new flavored filters, a new feedback-loaded soft clipper, and new noise sources from field recordings. The first version of Noisy was already pretty cool, but here it looks like the Expressive E’s team knocked it out of the park!

Compatibility and Presets

Noisy 2 seamlessly interacts with any controller, offering superior expressiveness to both MPE and classic MIDI controller owners. It includes 500 new MPE presets and 700 non-MPE presets for users with classic controllers. Noisy 2 is compatible with various MPE controllers, such as the Push 3, Seaboard, Linnstrument, and more, as well as Expressive E’s own Osmose and Touché controllers.

Pricing and Availability

Noisy 2 is available now on the Expressive E website. It is currently on sale for €/$ 89.40 (40% off) for a limited time. Existing Noisy 1 users will be offered a preferred upgrade price, and Expressive E customers can access personalized bundle deals from their accounts.

Noisy 2 is a groundbreaking MPE synthesizer that pushes the boundaries of expressive sound design. If you have an MPE-compatible controller (or a versatile standard MIDI one), Noisy 2 looks like a must-have!
