Apple has unveiled major updates to Logic Pro for Mac and iPad (respectively named Logic Pro 11 and Logic Pro for iPad 2), introducing powerful new features driven by artificial intelligence. Here’s all you need to know about these upcoming new versions of the popular DAW.
Session Players
Session Players expand the popular Drummer feature in Logic Pro 11 and Logic Pro for iPad 2 to include a new AI-driven Bass Player and Keyboard Player that can intelligently accompany your songs.
The Bass Player offers 8 different playing styles, with controls for complexity, intensity, slides, mutes, dead notes and pickup hits. Apple developers trained the new Bass Player engine in collaboration with top bass players using advanced AI and sampling technologies.

The Keyboard Player has 4 styles covering various genres, capable of playing simple block chords to extended harmonies. Parameters are available to fine-tune the sound, like mic position, pedal noise, key noise, release samples and sympathetic resonance.
Both the Bass Player and Keyboard Player can follow along with user-defined chord progressions in the Chord Track. Users can also select from a library of performance loops to quickly build out songs.

Stem Splitter
Stem Splitter uses on-device machine learning to swiftly extract individual parts like drums, bass, vocals and other instruments from a mixed audio recording. This opens up new creative possibilities for remixing and adding effects to existing songs.
The feature requires an Apple Silicon Mac to run, taking advantage of the Neural Engine’s AI capabilities.

ChromaGlow
ChromaGlow is a new AI-powered effect that instantly imparts analog-style warmth and punch to tracks, modeled after classic studio hardware.
Users can choose between 5 saturation styles, ranging from clean modern tones to vintage coloration to more extreme flavors. The effect is deeply customizable to suit different mix situations.
ChromaGlow leverages machine learning on Apple Silicon Macs and recent iPad models to realistically emulate expensive outboard gear.
