Watch the New Moog Muse Polyphonic Synth in Action

Fab, April 17, 2024April 17, 2024

Moog Muse news, anyone? Moog has set the synth world abuzz with a tantalizing teaser for their upcoming polyphonic analog synthesizer, the Muse. Formerly rumored to be called the Mirror, this new instrument marks Moog’s first major hardware release since being acquired by inMusic in 2023 (haters, be ready!).

Sneak Peek at the Super Bowl

The Muse made a surprise debut during Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show performance in February 2024, where eagle-eyed viewers spotted a mysterious prototype on stage. The sighting sent speculation into overdrive, with fans eager to learn more about Moog’s latest creation.

Moog Muse – What We Know So Far

In these past few months, additional details emerged thanks to leaks from producer Mike Dean and YouTuber Andrew Huang, who apparently received early units from Moog.

Based on the leaks, the Muse appears to be an 8-voice polyphonic analog synth built on the architecture of Moog’s semi-modular Matriarch. Each voice boasts two oscillators, a ring modulator, mod oscillator, noise generator, overload circuit, and arpeggiator. An OLED display and preset buttons round out the front panel.

Vintage Meets Modern

The upcoming Moog Muse seems poised to blend Moog’s signature vintage aesthetics with cutting-edge sound engines and modulation options. Its development was likely handled by Moog’s remaining Asheville team following layoffs, with some components sourced externally.

While pricing and release details remain unknown, anticipation is high for a more affordable polyphonic offering from Moog compared to flagship products like the One (just don’t expect Behringer-affordable, ain’t gonna happen!). Moog Muse’s unique design and pedigree have already generated significant buzz ahead of its official launch.

Stay tuned for more as this story develops.
