Remember the days when a single sample CD would cost you more than $50? Those CDs were later replaced by downloadable (and generally more affordable) sample packs.
In the past couple of years, we’ve seen the introduction of new subscription-based platforms like Splice Sounds, with an online catalogue of royalty-free samples from some industry-leading companies and artists. The sample pack revolution didn’t end there, though.
It looks like 2017 is going to be a very interesting year for loops & samples users. A few days ago Loopmasters announced Loopcloud while today the team behind Samplephonics is introducing Noiiz. Both services are cloud platforms with innovative features for music producers. Let’s find out more.
What’s Noiiz?
Noiiz is a new platform for music producers that you will get unlimited downloads of all Samplephonics content and some really exciting new Creators who will be adding new content to the site every day, a slick cloud-connected plugin so you can access sounds on Noiiz right from your project, plus some really exciting new tools for exploring sound and building up your personalised sample library.
Key points for Noiiz
- Unlimited Downloads – With Noiiz, you can download as much or as little as you like, including individual sounds or full packs.
- The Noiiz Plugin – As an Unlimited Member you get free access to the Noiiz Plugin, meaning you can access sounds hosted on Noiiz right from within your project and audition them in time and in key. This is a game changer!
- Sound Quality – The company claims it scrutinizes everything it adds to Noiiz to an intense level of detail, so you won’t have to sift through a bunch of poor quality sounds to find what you are looking for.
How much does Noiiz cost?
Noiiz kicked off its service with a very attractive intro offer. This week only, for just $89 per year (equivalent to just $7.42 per month) you get access to over 130,000 royalty free loops & samples via the Noiiz web app or through the drag and drop plugin.
On top of this deal, the company is also throwing in a free pack of over 8,000 oneshot samples if you sign up for the deal before the end of the week!
Noiiz’s website is available to browse and all sounds can be auditioned, so you’ll know exactly what you will get as a subscriber.
What’s Loopcloud?
Loopcloud is the brand new application for browsing and managing all your samples, MIDI files and presets, and bringing them into your DAW via drag and drop or the accompanying Loopcloud plugin with tempo-sync.
Sounds are searchable within Loopcloud by name, tempo and user-editable tags, and the intuitive, attractive interface lets you audition and download only the files you need when you need them. With a single login, you can synchronise your library across multiple computers, and the Loopcloud web app gives you access to it from any browser.
How does Loopcloud work?
Upon launch your Loopcloud account will be populated with any sounds you’ve purchased from Loopmasters but future updates include a store with over millions of inspirational samples, and the ability to upload and tag your personal sample library.
Find the perfect sound quickly and easily from a huge range of factory tagged samples, stream previews and download only the samples that you need. Enjoy free weekly sounds from the latest pro releases at Loopmasters.com, create your own unique tags, upload your personal sample library and reclaim precious hard disk space, all within one application.
When will it be available?
Full Release of Loopcloud will initially be for all people with a Loopmasters.com account, but it will soon be available to everyone free of charge. Release date is expected to be early Q1 2017.
For anyone interested in checking out Loopcloud, there is a limited early access beta programme. Apply at www.loopcloud.net.
What should you pick?
If you’re eager to start, Noiiz is available right now while you’ll have to wait a bit for Loopcloud.
Also, while both services are cloud-based and offer DAW-integration through a plugin, their business model looks quite different. Noiiz looks more aggressive and innovative on that front (honestly, their current $89 intro offer is a no-brainer!), while Loopcloud so far seems to be ‘only’ a much more convenient way to access Loopmaster’s catalogue but doesn’t mention (yet?) all-you-can-eat monthly/yearly plans.
We’re looking forward to checking out both these new platforms. Stay tuned…
