Media Overkill just dropped Miniraze 1.5, a free upgrade for their wave-slicing synth plugin that levels up the waveform count to match flagship Waverazor. Owners get over 150 new waves, two fresh formant filters, and expanded preset libraries from sound design heavyweights like Dash Glitch and Xenos Soundworks. Perfect timing for holiday sound hunting.
Complete Feature Set and What’s New
Miniraze 1.5 packs three revolutionary wave-slicing oscillators, each blending any two of 150+ waveforms from simple sines to complex multi-variations. The update matches Waverazor’s wave library for truly innovative hybrids, plus two new formant filters join the 15 types (subtractive, generative, formant) in dual serial configuration.
Modulation shines with four syncable LFOs for everything from vibrato to wobbles, four ADSR envelopes (amp envelope with velocity), and a vast matrix for modular patching. Ring Math offers 21 ring mod types, external audio input processes voices or instruments, and 11 noise colors add texture. Unison stacks voices thick, Analog button sprinkles organic randomness, and built-in arpeggiator crafts intricate patterns or random chord notes.
Effects cover nine staples: Delay, Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Distortion. The straightforward East Coast layout simplifies complex programming.
The Wave-Slicing Approach
Unlike traditional wavetable synths that scan through tables of single-cycle waveforms, Miniraze uses Media Overkill’s patented wave-slicing technology. This approach divides waveforms into segments that can be spliced together in real time. The result is a synthesis method that sits somewhere between wavetable and traditional subtractive techniques, capable of producing sounds you won’t find in conventional soft synths.
The interface takes cues from East Coast analog designs, with dedicated sections for oscillators, mixer, filters, and modulation. This straightforward layout makes programming easier compared to Waverazor’s more experimental interface, which has been described as looking like a 1983 Atari arcade cabinet.

New Presets and Sound Banks
Total 390 sounds, boosted by fresh patches from Dash Glitch, Alex Reid, Xenos Soundworks, and Ross Totino. Separate banks available from Jerry Kovarsky, Bryan Lee/Xenos Soundworks, Düsseldorf, and Bob Moog Foundation (BMF proceeds donated to BMF). For wavetable fans, see our Serum 2 or Current 2.0 coverage for trend comparisons.
More Than Just Red and Blue
Miniraze includes 32 color themes and supports 35 languages, including Sanskrit, Elvish, and Klingon, because apparently your next bass drop needs to sound equally convincing whether you’re chanting mantras, casting spells, or negotiating with the Borg. The plugin runs as AAX, AU, and VST on Mac, PC, and Linux systems.
Pricing and Availability
Miniraze 1.5 is a free upgrade for existing owners. New users snag it at holiday sale price of $29 USD (regular $99) with free trial. Also at Plugin Boutique.
