AI Synthesis has released its fourth module, the AI004 OTA Filter, in their words “a loving tribute to the late MS-20 filter design”.
This OTA Voltage Controlled Filter uses the same filter structure as the venerable Korg MS 20 Filter. The filter is switchable between Lowpass and Hi Pass modes, and features an updated diode gain stage in the resonance section.
Following the tradition of the first three eurorack modules, the module has a full how-to build guide, and is available as a fully built module, full kit, as a PCB and Panel set, and as PCB only.
Unlike some DIY companies that focus solely on providing kits, AI Synthesis has an educational mission and their kits and documentation are aimed at those who have never held a soldering iron. PCBS are professionally manufactured, and all panels are aluminum and designed by Grayscale.
In addition to providing step by step build instructions, schematics, and circuit explanations, the site also includes a guide for getting started in modular synthesis, and a series of DIY Guides.
Price
From $15 to $160 (for a built and tested module), with the full kit being $85. You can order the AI004 OTA Filter here.
