A few days ago Novation announced the new version of Circuit firmware and it looks like another brilliant achievement for one of our favorite sound boxes of 2016.
Circuit 1.5 focusses on increased expression of sequences and closer representation of live-recorded parts.
It also enables instant preview of patches, making sound selection quicker and easier while jamming.
There are several features that are distinct improvements. The first is Fractional Gate: Novation has given the Gate sequencer six times more precision per step. Version 1.5 enables staccato steps to be programmed per-step and increases variance in melody creation.
Watch this quick overview video for further information:
The improved gate functionality makes it a great choice as a sequencer to drive a modular system, as well as it having two inbuilt synth engines (six-voice), and a sampler built-in.
Synth Patch Preview means that anyone can listen to synth patches directly from the selection view: poly patches play the root, third and fifth notes of the current scale and key, while mono patches play the root note.
Circuit 1.5 also features MIDI CC Send and Receive, which means MIDI CC data can be turned on or off to prevent any unwanted parameter changes. Circuit Mono Station also comes with MIDI CC Send and Receive, so what MIDI information is shared between both devices can be chosen.
The firmware is available via Components and Components Standalone on Mac or PC.
