Buying new musical instruments and audio gear is definitely fun. At the same time, when you’re playing back or mixing what you’ve recorded, the experience can be frustrating.

“I spent lots of money on this (add your toy here) because I’ve heard (add your fav artist here) uses it on his records, but my mix doesn’t even get close to his productions – what am I doing wrong?”. Stuff like this sounds familiar, right?

A lot of factors come into play when it comes to how your mix sounds. Often the explanations you’ll get from (supposedly) audio gurus can be overly technical.
