I would describe Steven as passionate, driven, and dedicated.
Steven is a very hardworking, enterprising and diverse person.
Stephen is a bit ADHD – the more the better, though, since his constantly shifting attention results in great plugs and gear for us!
Only one way to put it………..Obsessive compulsive compression obsession
Confident and driven
He’s not a businessman, he’s a business… man.
He appears to me as someone who is hardworking, highly driven, an explorer who enjoys new challenges and finding new ways of accomplishing things as well as a dedicated music professional.
Steven is an innovator and successful businessman. He’s passionate about creating his dream plugins and sharing them with the world.
Self-assured, decisive and perceptive.
That would be a particular strength in my opinion of the Perception of Aesthetics in particular.
He’s a virtual analog type of guy.
Stephen seems to be a kind of Gilles Deleuze of the digital sound, always taking sound processing to the new territories and, soon after, going further, in other borders, going far away again, and again, and again.
Steven has been run through an elaborate mastering chain including but not limited to VCC, a Maximizer, and Exciter, and, of course, FG-X.
Steven sings and drums and who knows what more.
Steven is clearly very passionate and innovative.
I think he is a meat eating man drummer with marketing talent and big ears !
Steven is a lover of finely cooked meats and finely designed plugins!
Steven Slate simply gets it. His drive and determination have shown in his work, along with Fabrice. I can grab any Slate plug-in and instantly get a better sound without having to “find” a sweet spot.
And also makes plugins that I love
Steven is a pimp in both the plugin world and in Life and a beast on the BBQ
Steve is a very focused entrepreneur, working for the greater good of all us audio nerds that demand the best possible quality. Seems like a really cool guy to hang out with. And he likes good food says his Instagram pics.
“Steven Slate reminds me a lot of Steve Jobs but in the Audio “Tech” Side, he is already ahead and changing/adapting the way we make music today in 2015 and forward.
I would describe Steven as very driven and creative personality….sprinkled with bacon of course…
Mr. Slate is a Humble, Inspired Lover of all things music and pork !
Steven is someone who is very hands on, and driven. So I’d have to say his personality is like a Dry Rub, which is good for ribs!
I would describe Steven’s personality like this, serious confident an honest guy who’s passion and love for what he does is clearly visible.
Charismatic
Steve’s the kind of guy who likes a good steak & a good beer. Need I say more?
Steven Slate’s personality to me, is like the MacGyver of the audio world! His personality brings life to skeletons…
The most spoken word by Steven in the interview was “NEW” and you really can feel that to this guy the next step is always the search of a new way of improve the way that we make music!
Visionary
Barry…erm…Steven Slate is a genius!
I would describe Steves personality as someone who is, Passionate, Down to Earth. He is also some one who is not willing to compromised on the quality of his products. You can tell he loves being able to bring something different and unique to people in the industry like ourselves.
It’s simple “Steven is a mad scientist with vision, a flair for the dramatic and fun revolutionary”
Sir Slate is a visionary in the audio world and already proved it with his last blind test on Gearslutz between VCC and summing hardwares.
This guy and his hard workers team constantly blows my mind.
Keep the good vibes fellas, I wish you the best !
Steven is one of the most determined guys out there. As a musician, it’s easy to settle with what you have access to. This guy doesn’t do that. If he see’s a need, he makes it happen. I have the pleasure of hanging with him a few times, and the guy has unprecedented drive. And I’ve used the free trial of VMR and have found some of the best settings for vocals.
Steven is definitely an innovative person who can’t seem to sit in the background even if he was paid to just do that. The great majority work hard towards the same ideas, but Steven has his way of creating and finding his own route. Not too many in this world like that. Keeping people inspired I’m sure is one of his goals. Keep creating these awesome plugins Steven, we appreciate the hard work!
To me I think his personality is a game change, progressive entrepreneur. Love the products they make and I use them on every project I do.
Steven is an innovator. His posts on Facebook about smoked meats are also a highlight of my day. He’s driven beyond most, that’s for sure.
Steven Slate is my spirit animal.
I think Steve and his company are innovators by making tools that might be out of reach for the working and up and coming musician/producer/engineer. He is putting creative tools in the hands of artists who aspire to reach for the stars. So I would say Steve has the personality of Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, and the likes of other big thinkers.
He eats bacon and make great audio tools!
Steven seems to be down to earth and hard working but never seems to forget the fun in making music. And of course, a bad ass producer.
Steven is a passionate, game changing, forward thinking and hilariously witty legend!
Huge supporter of Slate and their products! loved the interview! 🙂
Steven Slate: Work-Hard-With-Passion-and-bacon!
One word that describes Steven would be innovative. He’s always looking for new ways of doing things and defying the odds which has led him to success. He not only adds tools to his workflow but all of us out here get to benefit from it as well. There’s one more thing I will add, he’s a carnivore haha. After following him on Instagram, you can sure tell that he loves to grub on juicy piece of steak!
I would describe Mr Slate as someone whose genuine passion about what he does is readily visible when he speaks, much like a kid talking about his favorite dinosaurs etc. He also is someone who makes phallus jokes at the breakfast table.
Steven Slate seems to be pretty serious about what he does and knows what he is talking about, though he also seems to be a bit ridiculous at times. Maybe a bit of an air head.
He is an avaricious guy. He just wants your money.
He’s appealing and so american !
He’s an innovator, visionary and passionate.
Steven, alas, is a poor, frustrated actor, who’s secret ambition was to star as the next very hip Captain of the USS Enterprise in the next Star Trek blockbuster. Everything he does, is calculated to position himself humbly , in the eyes of the Hollywood movie moguls, as the down to earth, so to speak: yet brilliantly, urbane , technologically sophisticated leader, who can also mix killer dance tracks to drop at major alien raves to resolve all inter-galatic strife, Klingon bad ass attitude, Borg in the box ( ho hum mixes) and general universal lack of appreciation for killer plug in emulations. Steven’s mixes are pure as di-lythium crystals.
Slate is very passionate about all of his work. He is definitely an innovator for his time. I love the fact that he takes his time about his products before releasing them to the public. His attitude towards the recording industry is so professional and I think that’s what makes him who he is today.
Also Slate your right why didn’t you think of the iPhone first but hey I’m sure everyone wishes they thought of that Hahahahahahahahaha.
Steven is a major lover of bacon and other smoked and cooked meats. He also has great hair and is a highly productive member of the audio industry. Slate trigger is one of my favourite plug-ins ever.
Bacon/v-neck loving guy. I use his fart library on every mix.
Slate is smart, creative, innovative, charismatic, stylish and modern businessmen. Respect!
innovator, businessman, easy going, and has a good sense of humour
Steven is a dreamer and and innovator. And yes, very funny 🙂
Steven seems to be a shrewd businessman who genuinely cares about accurately and efficiently advancing the audio industry in quality, usability, and creativity.
Steven is articulate, ambitious and incredibly good looking. I mean experienced. Just bought Trigger 2 recently and don’t know if I can ever go back to mixing without it! Would love to try the VMR and VCC.
Steven is Relentless.
I would describe his personality as loud, but very dynamic and full of harmonics
Steven is one of us
Steve, like me, is a big enthusiastic kid, in audio wonderland.
Steven Slate – how could you hate?
As a man he seems pretty great,
SSD, FGX, VCC and VMR,
No other product is even on par.
Humble and helpful, one hell of a dude,
Not in his nature to ever be rude!!!
^^^^^ see what I did there
Focused
Slate is Steve Jobs of audio/vst world… 😉
Steve is an innovator and a game changer in the recording industry, he goes from the the artistical side of music to engineering to entrepreneur.
And not to mention that he once mixed a song better than Chuck Norris.
SLATE is like JOBS and GATES put together!
He’s just Awesome
Everytime I see a new video or interview of Mr Slate I smile because he’s got funny character and I never know if he’s acting seriously or just being funny whole time but it’s hilarious. He gets to the point and uses common language to really get to people and his products amaze me everytime and although he did not invent the iPhone I am more excited about slate releasing products than Apple because I feel Apple is just trying to make my life difficult with their damn upgrades and making software and hardware obsolete in sometimes 6 months to a year! Whereas Slate products are extremely useful tools that we engineers use and it facilitates and Speeds up tedious workflow that increases the percentage of creativity time versus linear work. I have never met Stephen but would imagine he’s a pretty cool guy.
I’d say Steven has some definite low end punch, some serious vibe and character. His personality fills the room with warm vintage tone and confidence.
If I win, I would like to say Slate is one of the best plugin maker in this industry. I can’t mix without VBC and VTM!
If I don’t, Then I would like to say he is the guy who takes all my money and use them to eats lots of BBQ.
Steven is a passionate, BBQ-lovin, algorithm-tweaking badass! Making the impossible possible!
he’s american.
For me Steven Slate is the Steve Jobs of audio, but without the lunatic part ! He is creative enough to be able to imagine fantastic but realistic dreams of a better future and he is driven enough to being able to make them true with all his hard work, patience, attitude, good taste in choosing his partners and love. I look forward to meet you Steve for real one day and have a real chat ! 🙂
Astute, driven, dedicated and personable.
Self assured.
I would describe Steven as passionate, driven to be successful and simply awesome.
Innovative, Smart, and Efficient
I would describe him as curious , extremely hard working and as a tough competition to other plugin developers.
well i have been following him the day first steven slate drums were released great fan of his work!!!
Well Steven slate the best thing about him is he comes to the ground listen to what actual production guys need now a days and then come up with the product!! (infact amazing products) and yeah the best thing is his love for Bar. b.Q lolz thumbs up man keep it up!!!
PBA (proud bacon addict)
He is definitely an innovative and witty individual. I love everything I have from Slate Digital.
They say all geniuses are a little crazy – I’ve never personally met Steven but from all the interviews over the years I have seen / read of his, I’d say he is no exception to that rule. Great concepts, great products, and a great sense of humour. (Dave Pensado Mix Assiatant Plugin!)
Mr Slate is different. The type of different who wants more than the normal. The type who wants to make an impact on the world, just good is not good enough. An innovative, original thinker driven by passion and ambition. He is a huge asset to our industry.
Steven Slate is a inspirational figure, driven, smoked ribs and honey bacon lover who understood what how the thinks in digital audio age are gonna unfold… And I hear he is a great guy 🙂
The best plugin maker ever!
Genius!
He is absolutely revolutionising the business.
He is intelligent, audacious, he has and puts a lot of passion in what he is doing. He is a dreamer and a conqueror. A creative men and most important a perfectionist.
Steven absolute fan of music and devoted fan of what he is doing. The charismatic guy and a great businessman! He knows that with VMR my mixes it will be better.
Steve one dedicated guy, slightly cocky, but it’s one of his endearing traits.
Steve’s one bad mutha who knows how to make the sweetest plugins on the market, and loves a challenge!
Robotic. Blink man, blink.
Pretty audacious, but delivers good on his promises. The kinda guy you’d want as a boss.
I would say, “driven but open-minded”.
I think Steven is innovative and musician foremost and understand the needs of the customer to be able to make high end recordings on a buget. He is also always keeping you excired for what comes next
Commited
Passionate, persistent, perfectionist
I would describe Steven Slate as a ‘Problem Solver’ , ‘Facilitator’ and Generous
Steven is very passionate about the products he puts his name on. He is definitely hard working, dedicated and driven.
He’s a man with a lot of depth, punch and character.
Precisely what Gonzo would be if he took audio as seriously as chickens.
Very focused and driven
Creative, erudite, but knows how to be humorous as well.
I believe that Steven is the inspiring person who keeps doing what he has to do. Really hardworking man. I see him as Steve Jobs of the DSP world.
Steven Slate is focused and driven. He is passionate boat staying on the cutting edge of recording software technology and practicality, just look at the RAVEN. His working-class work-ethic and his attention to client concerns and comments, is a refreshing departure from the antipathy that so many clients perceive and complain about from some software manufacturers. Steven Slate has my business, whether I win or not.
Cheers,
Gil
Confident and humble
Steven is positive, enthusiastic, and killing it with some fantastic software!
Steven seems like a guy who cares very much about how he presents his product, as well as himself. If I had to describe him in one word: meticulous. Cool interview!!!
All over the place, with sense of where he’s at.
Incredibly passionate and driven individual
Steven Slate is a musician who dared to push the limits and give other musicians and engineers what we really need to express ourselves through the best digital tools available… Through this interview I can confirm that he’s a driven man who wants nothing but to give the best experience through the use of his products… And doing that successfully requires a big deal of listening and knowing the consumer (being a consumer as well) … Only a humble hard working man can be up to the challenge. Well done!
Steven Slate effectively combines the nostalgic sounds of the past with the convenience and excitement of the future.
Steven personnality, he simply loves Life.
As a businessman, he is clearly someone who isn’t afraid to try something new. Sort of like the Steve Jobs of audio. He he’s a visionary and always has something up his sleeve that makes you think about audio in a different way.
It looks like he’s the One
🙂
Game changing, intuitiveness and assertiveness are the characteristics that best suit Steve’s personality, in my opinion, which have led him to become key for music business and industry.
Steven is an inventor who won’t stop until his invention achieves perfection. A perfectionist.
Intelligent!
As a fellow Steven, he has to be a good guy by default! All jokes aside, he understands the importance of innovation. Being that Slate has done just about every job in the recording process, his designs are not only cool but very functional at the highest level. Steven Slate is utilitarianism at its finest. Good luck everyone!
progressive
Passionate and driven!
Steven is a man who makes and sells plugins. He also does online interviews relating to those plugins. I want to win those plugins.
I would describe Steven’s personality as confident, creative and motivated.
