Good news for Logic and iZotope RX users. iZotope has announced that RX Standard and RX Advanced Music Rebalance can be used in Logic Pro 10.5.1 as an ARA 2.0 plug-in.
What is ARA And Why It Matters?
Audio Random Access (commonly abbreviated to ARA) is an extension for audio plug-in interfaces, such as AU, VST and RTAS, allowing them to exchange a greater amount of audio information with digital audio workstation (DAW) software. It was developed in a collaboration between Celemony Software and PreSonus.
The ARA extension enables a host application and compatible plug-in to share song structure information (for example, regions and their associated audio files) and analysis results (including transients and pitch information). Logic Pro supports ARA 2 compatible plug-ins, such as Melodyne.
Using a compatible plug-in in ARA mode provides several benefits to speed your workflow: First, there is no need to capture audio before working in the plug-in. Second, no edits to regions are lost when you move or copy the audio region to another track, as long as the plug-in is inserted in ARA mode in the first audio effects slot. In addition, your edits to the audio material are preserved when you copy the project.
RX and Music Rebalance
With the integration of ARA, users can now utilize Music Rebalance without having to leave their session to maximize production efficiency.
Music Rebalance intelligently identifies vocals, bass, percussion, and other instruments in a mix for independent gain adjustment. With improved source separation algorithms and the ability to generate stems from a stereo or mono recording, producers can easily re-animate a mix, make room for scene dialogue in post, remove or isolate vocals for a remix, or create and export new stems for further processing and mixing.
It is available as a module in the RX 8 Audio Editor, as an Audiosuite plug-in in Pro Tools, and as an ARA 2.0 plug-in in Logic Pro 10.5.1.
