Prosoniq? Yes, they’re back in town with an AU version of their good old Morph plug-in. This version works on both PPC and Intel Mac models running MacOS X 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard). It is fully compatible with the latest versions of Logic and GarageBand, as well as with several other AudioUnits hosts.
Other plugs (Dynasone, Ambisone, VoxCiter, Roomulator, OrangeVocoder and PiWarp) will follow soon.
Prosoniq is offering also a crossgrade for owners of the VST and RTAS versions.
This is good news for “nostalgic” producers who would like to re-use some of their older tools, as well as for younger GarageBand and Logic users willing to try something “different”.
Actually, we’ve always appreciated Prosoniq’s plugs like Morph in the past because they were not the “usual” boring emulation of a more or less famous vintage device. They were trying to create some unique tools (if you were into graphic design you could remember Kai’s Power Tools, well, Morph in a way was trying to do something similar for musicians and sound-designers).
It will be interesting to know if, besides porting the old plugs to the AU platform, they’re going to release new stuff. AudioNewsRoom will investigate…
