Ships Piano³ – More Character Pianos From Sound Dust

If you follow ANR you’ll already know that Sound Dust is one of our favorite boutique sample library companies (see for instance our Ghost Dulcitone and Cloud Cello and Viola reviews).

Today Sound Dust announced the Ships Piano³, which takes the original acclaimed Ships Piano sample instrument and adds two more great sounding character pianos to the mix.

In Sound Dust’s words, this new instrument can be seen as “a character piano modeller, you can cunningly combine different aspects of each piano to create impossible sounding piano hybrids.”
Rest assured, this ain’t no average, smooth piano monster, and you won’t need to buy a new hard drive just to be able to install it (honestly the size of some recent piano libraries has become ridiculous!).

As usual with Sound Dust though, there’s more.

Ships Piano³ also comes with the Satie-anator (this would be an awesome name for a plugin!) sequencer engine which combined with the keyswitch operated scale and key commands is a full on inspiration machine!

So, what will you find in Ships Piano³?

  • School Grand – a binaurally recorded grand piano in an ancient stone walled Hogwartsy school hall/chapel
  • Ships Piano – 4 or 5 notes of velocity, recorded binaurally and re-tuned since the last version – see box for her history
  • Room Upright – binaurally recorded with 3 layers of velocity, the cunning bit is that she was reversed, fed through high end reverb and then reversed again
  • 346 24bit samples = 360mb with Native Instruments propriety compression
  • 24 custom convolution reverbs per piano
  • Satie-anator – 12 user programmable, key triggered sequencers with 12 tracks per sequence
  • Scale and pitch quantisers with keyswitch control
  • Master FX page – master EQ, tape and valve modelling plus transient designer
  • Keyboard Velocity modelling page
  • 37 instrument snapshots
  • Handy build in instructions in RTFM page

Price and requirements
Ships Piano³ costs £30 (Sound Dust customers can have a 40% discount for a limited time). It requires the full version of Kontakt (5.5.1 or above).
